Practical support for every stage of high school, from starting out to final exams
You want to be in your teen's corner. You just need strategies that actually work.
It's a skills gap, and skills can be built.
I don't believe in perfect planners or constant nagging - just practical strategies built for how your teen actually thinks, so you can show up for them without becoming their homework manager.
Real independence, not a parent doing the remembering forever.
Sound familiar?
This is rarely carelessness. Keeping track of what's needed for which class, and where it lives, is a genuine organisational skill, and it's easily disrupted when six subjects are competing for attention. A better system addresses this far more effectively than another reminder.
This often reflects how a teenager experiences time, not a lack of will. Many don't yet sense how close a deadline really is, or the task ahead simply feels too large to begin. Understood this way, it becomes much easier to help them move forward.
This is the phrase that concerns parents most, and rightly so. It rarely signals laziness. More often, it reflects a young person who has tried and fallen short enough times to stop expecting a different result. What helps isn't more effort. It's a different approach, and the confidence that comes from seeing it work.
Meet your mentor
I help parents and teenagers bridge the gap between what school expects and what's manageable at home.
As a high school teacher of more than 20 years, a mum, and a wife whose husband has ADHD, I bring that understanding from three angles: the classroom, home life, and ADHD itself.
I know the demands placed on students and the executive functioning skills they're expected to use every day. Planning ahead, getting started, staying organised, prioritising tasks and meeting deadlines can all be difficult - especially when several subjects, teachers and expectations are competing for attention at once.
I help students, from those just starting high school through to older teens, build the skills, confidence and independence they need to manage school more effectively. I also help parents step back into a supporting role, without feeling responsible for remembering every deadline, checking every task, or holding it all together.
My approach is practical, realistic and grounded in what works in real classrooms and real families. The goal isn't perfection. It's steady progress, greater independence, and a young person who feels ready for what comes next.
